Selecting mesh object

Hi

I have a 3d ca, witch is ONE mesh with severel standart materials. It looks fine, when imported, but when I want to hide it, when I choose a sertan camera, it only hide individuel origin meshes and not the whole mesh at once.

Hard work to hide a car that originally was made og 80 meshes

Hi @Helborg,

If you group all the objects into a single group in your 3D modelling tool, then you will be able to configure the “Custom hide in views” option for the whole group.

To select a whole group in the “Objects” tab, first select an object in the Shapespark editor viewport, and then select the object’s parent group in the object hierarchy tree.

Oh I did not see that. Thanks

Hi Wojtek,

It seams that this is not valid for Revit groups. I’m using Shapespark trial to check possibilities with Revit. Shapespark is grouping objects by material, so I am not able to select objects by instance. To use Revit groups to select a group of instances is not working as well. Am I missing something here? Is there any other routines to:

  1. Select instances individually
  2. Group objects in Revit, then use the group for selection in Shapespark
    Thanks

The selection in Shapespark is based on objects types, which correspond to Revit’s family types. So, if you have 3 elements of the same family type in Revit, they are exported as 3 instances of a single object type in Shapespark, and you can select all of them or none. To select a single element you’d have to duplicate its family type to assign the element a unique family type. Then, after exporting the Revit model to Shapespark, the element would have a unique object type, and you would be able to select only this element/object.

Shapespark doesn’t support Revit groups. We will be investigating if this is something we could implement in the near future.

Wojtek,

Thanks for the clarification.
To improve shapespark object selection could be a good idea as well. To be able to selecto multiple objects (with ctrl and shift) and group/ungroup in shapespark would be helpful.
Thanks again!
