Bug – 3D Screen Sharing Drops When Mac Users Join/Leave Avatar Mode

We are experiencing a recurring issue with our Shapespark scene used in avatar mode during professional events. Whenever a user — often on a Mac — joins or leaves the scene, the 3D screen sharing suddenly stops for all participants.

This seems to be specific to certain Mac setups (possibly Safari or OS-related), but we haven’t been able to identify a consistent pattern. Here are the key observations:

  • The issue only occurs in avatar mode (not during solo visits).
  • Screen sharing is interrupted, and the host has to manually restart it.
  • No error messages appear in the scene.
  • This significantly disrupts the flow of our virtual events.

Have you received similar reports? Could you advise on possible tests we can run or logs we could provide to help you diagnose the issue?

We haven’t received similar reports, but we’ll try to reproduce it according to your observations.

Until we release the fix to our cloud, you can use it, but with a URL suffix:
just add ?webwalk=1283 at the end of the url, just before hash (#). For example:

https://demo.shapespark.com/meeting-space/?webwalk=1283#meeting-key=xyz
