New feature: Grass material

Dear Shapespark Community,

We are pleased to announce an update to the Shapespark viewer - the new Grass Material. This upgrade enables enhanced, realistic rendering of architectural grass.

The Grass Material feature introduces two key parameters for grass adjustment - Height and Layers.

Height adjustment allows for direct control over the vertical dimension of the grass, while the Layers option allow to control density of the grass.

Beyond the structural adjustments, the grass color texture can be changed to best fit your specific design requirements.

As always, we’re interested in your thoughts and feedback to continue refining and enhancing our platform. Let us know what you think!

Very nice and quite convincing. Do the parameters affect bake time?

Hi @peepshowillustration

No, the grass material parameters do not affect the bake time.
The grass is applied in shaders, and may only affect real time performance (however during our testing we didn’t find any performance issues yet)

Hello! Is this feature live? Where can I find?

My changelog is 2023-01-26, do I have to renew the yearly license to get the grass update?

Thank you!

@JoaquimMoreiravr360, yes to get the grass update you need to renew your software updates (I assume you have the perpetual license).

Thank you for the reply @wojtek. If we pay for the license update, do we keep it perpetually? And the updates would stop in a year correct?

If you have the perpetual license, you can extend hosting, meetings, software updates, and support for another year. When this period ends your scenes on our infrastructure will become unavailable, the meetings won’t work, you won’t receive future software updates, but you will still be able to use the Shapespark desktop application to create new scenes and self-host the scenes.
