Sketchup on the iPad to Shapespark Web Editor

Greetings Shapespark team.
How can I pass a sketchup model worked on the iPad to the Shapespark web editor without having to go through the PC?

Is this possible? Is there any way to do it? :face_with_monocle:

Greetings.
Jorge.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. SketchUp for iPad doesn’t support extensions: Plugins available for Ipad IOS? - SketchUp for iPad - SketchUp Community

Hi @wojtek, I’m going to try the following way:
From the SKP app on iPad I’m going to export in OBJ, and then, from the web editor I’m going to import that file.

The issue here is the lights objects, I’ll have to include them from the editor, which I don’t know if they are maintaining the next time I update the model. :face_with_monocle: (Perhaps if I copy the lights generated in another file by the shapespark plugin… it will work?I almost always generate between 3 and 5 types of lights).

This brings me to the following question:
Why instead of having the conversion module in each software to export, you have the conversion module in Shapespark as an importer?

I guess there are many technical factors but I think it’s a reasonable idea, but now that we have the web editor!

:joy:)

En fin, aquí les dejo el ejercicio.

Lights added in the editor, both desktop and cloud, persist scene updates (re-imports). If you add lights in the cloud editor and then update the scene from a newer version of the OBJ file, the lights will still be there.

Sorry, I am not sure if I understand the question. We do have the exporter (the conversion module) in SketchUp, Revit and 3ds Max. It’s the web and iPad versions of SketchUp that don’t support extensions at all, so we cannot create an exporter for SketchUp on iPad/web.

Great!

Could you create a direct importer in the cloud editor? so anyone could upload the SKP file or revit file (any other that you determine)

This sounds like an interesting approach, but unfortunately, given we already have exporter plug-ins for SketchUp and Revit, as of now we don’t have plans to implement importers.
