This might be off topic, and I’m no technical wiz so maybe this makes no sense, but…
After watching Unreal Engine 5’s demo (
https://youtu.be/qC5KtatMcUw), one line in particular stood out to me: Instantaneous global illumination without light baking. Around the 2:45 mark it illustrates this.
The implications for this were, in my mind, massive. If Shapespark could use something like this, I imagine the time to load would drop massively (though it’s already very quick), while we also wouldn’t have to sacrifice image quality whatsoever.
However, I’m not sure about how this would be practically implemented or if you guys ever plan on using an engine like this as it might impact mobile compatibility. I’m just curious on the team + community’s thoughts.
