Shapespark releases

We started releasing Shapespark 3.3.4 today and by Thursday, it should become available to all users. This release involves migration of the scene format, so it will be rolled out to different users in separate steps. If you notice any strange behaviour, like scenes no longer loading, please report it to us!

Besides that, this release contains the following changes:

  • Drag-and-drop material assignment to objects is now supported. Material properties can also be transferred by dragging one material onto another.
  • Anti-tiling can now be used for all texture types.
  • Improved grass realism for larger areas.
  • Introduced help tooltips in Camera Tab.
  • Fixed auto-exposure interaction with camera volumes and gamma correction.
  • Materials in Material picker extension can now also be selected from a list.

We’ve released Shapespark 3.3.5 with a fix for not-working uploads.
It is being rolled out slowly, just like version 3.3.4.
It should become available to all users by Friday.

We’ve just rolled out Shapespark 3.3.6 which fixes downloading a scene from the cloud not working.

We’ve just released Shapespark 3.3.7 which fixes the issue with scenes not being migrated to the new scene format when downloaded from cloud. This led to errors when the downloaded scene was edited.

We’ve just released Shapespark 3.3.8 with the fix for some apple devices crashing with iOS 18.2+. For self-hosted scenes it is required to re-bundle the scene and then upload it anew. Scenes hosted on our infrastructure should work as is. We have also sped up loading times for some scenes by ~5%.

Shapespark 3.3.9 has just been rolled out, bringing support for Revit 2026 and 3ds Max 2026.

We’ve just released Shapespark 3.4.0 with the following changes:

  • Added option to create new materials in the editor.
  • Ported lightmap baking engine to Cycles 4.4 with improved CPU baking performance. Support for baking on much older GPUs was dropped (Geforce 600 & 700 series).
  • Added light-tree feature when baking lightmaps, which can greatly reduce noise in scenes with complex lighting. Decreased number of samples used in the default baking presets.
  • Bake preview will generate good results quicker.
  • Improved performance of collisions and rendering when in motion.
  • Fixed issue with some overridden materials being replaced with other ones in the viewer.

Hello,

Since this latest release, I’ve been having a problem with objects/triggers behind hidden elements, such as the roof, in top view. In both the editor and previously published scenes, it’s now impossible to click on objects/triggers behind the roof, even though the roof is no longer visible in top view. Is this a problem unique to me, or is it a change or bug in the current programming? This wasn’t the case before the latest release.

Thanks in advance for your response!!

Hi, we should be releasing a new Shapespark version which fixes this issue shortly!

We’ve just released Shapespark 3.4.1 which fixes collisions with objects which are hidden in current view.

After updating our baking engine in version 3.4.0, when using OptiX or CUDA, older GPU drivers might not work. So if you experience some problems with baking (like black lightmaps), the first thing that should be done is updating the GPU drivers.

Minimum Nvidia GPU driver version: 528.33 (but it’s better to have at least 571.96)

We’ve just released Shapespark 3.4.2 in which user will be informed in case of problems with baking on CUDA/OptiX caused by an outdated driver.

Hi, I don’t think the problem has been completely resolved. It’s fixed in edit mode, but not in view mode, so it doesn’t work properly in published scenes.

Can you share a link to the scene in which it doesn’t work properly?

Indeed there still is a problem, I managed to replicate this.
We will prepare a fix for it shortly.
For now you can open your scene with additional hash option: gpu_collider, for example:
https://demo.shapespark.com/demo/#autoplay&gpu_collider

Before the update, it was possible to click on floor triggers in top view. This is no longer possible, although it is possible in edit mode. The same thing happens with objects that are not triggers

On the cloud it should be working properly now.
In the viewer mode in the desktop app, we should be able to release this fix next week.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting!

Thanks!! I’m waiting for the solution in the view mode of the desktop app.
